Job Summary
Reporting to the Sport Programs unit within the Department of Sports and Recreation, this position assists with the prevention, acute care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for Club Sports athletes. Provides medical coverage for competitions and events and clinical hours in the Athletic Training spaces.
Responsibilities
Department Specific Responsibilities:
- Provides care within the scope of training for all club sport athletes participating in the Club
Sports Program administered by the Department of Sports and Recreation - Maintains frequent and effective communication with the medical and Sports and Recreation
department staff - Works collaboratively with appropriate personnel to establish and maintain Emergency Action
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides comprehensive prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and daily healthcare for assigned students and/or student-athletes
- Maintains accurate and HIPAA-compliant medical records for all assigned individuals
- Completes administrative duties as assigned by departmental leadership
- Develops and enforces institutional policies related to the medical care of students and student-athletes
- Maintains consistent and effective communication with medical personnel and athletic department staff
- Serves as a subject matter expert on relevant aspects of Athletic Training services
- Educates students and athletes on injury management, concussion protocols, at-home care, and rehabilitation procedures
- Designs and implements individualized rehabilitation and injury prevention plans based on each student's needs and goals
- Refers students and athletes to appropriate healthcare professionals to ensure optimal care when necessary
- Reviews and updates relevant policies, procedures, treatment protocols, and standing medical orders
- Collaborates with appropriate personnel to develop and maintain Emergency Action Plans for all athletic facilities
- Manages inventory and ensures proper maintenance of medical supplies, equipment, AEDs, medical kits, supplements, and Athletic Training Room (ATR) cleanliness and organization
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Kinesiology, or related field
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license
State of Georgia Athletic Training Licensure
NATABOC Certification
First Aid/CPR/AED certification
Required Experience
On-the-job training provided.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Preferred Experience
Experience in collegiate sports athletic training or rehabilitation
Previous relevant experience in athletic training in a post-secondary level program or professional training in a related sports program

Familiarity with NCAA rules and compliance standards
Knowledge and experience with software related to healthcare management
Knowledge of standards and best practices in sports medicine
Knowledge of conservative RTP interpretation, emerging techniques and skills, current industry research, data results, and application
Understands industry standards and accepted practices
Experience with empowering and motivating students
