The facilities & aquatics management coordinator will assist with management and oversight of all recreational and social spaces in the award-winning 150,000 sq. ft. Student Life Center and the Park Center Holsten Pool as needed. This position works days and is required to work some evenings and weekends depending on staff and programming coverage. The main responsibilities include facility operation and management, supervision of student employees, facility set-up for special events and assisting with emergency situations and training for all staff and lifeguard training for aquatic staff. This is a 12-month, full-time position.
Major Responsibilities/Duties:
Work closely with the associate director of campus recreation for facilities and aquatics to schedule, oversee and maintain all recreational and social spaces and equipment in the Student Life Center
Ensure appropriate staffing levels and equipment for all operating hours and events
Collaborate with the aquatics management coordinator to provide management and oversight of the Student Life Center Pool as needed
Develop and maintain a positive relationship with the Cortland County Health Department and New York State Health Department to ensure compliance with all regulations
Assist in the oversight of the swim lesson program, including recruitment of clients, instructor assignments, supervision and evaluation of lessons
Support the implementation, review, and enforcement of facility policies and procedures including facility access, emergency action plans (EAP), and standard operating procedures
Assist with maintenance of the Student Life Center’s electronic facility management and identification program (Fusion)
Recruit, train, schedule, evaluate and supervise all student employees in the open recreation program including building managers, lifeguards, and facility attendants
Assist in the operation of the equipment checkout service including equipment management, locker rental service, and towel/laundry service
Assist with payment management for the Student Life Center
Provide risk management training for Student Life Center emergency action plans
Maintain accurate documentation of all certifications and trainings for all open recreation staff
Offer CPR/AED/First Aid certification and re-certification classes and provide in-service training sessions for aquatics and open recreation staff
Supervise one graduate assistant of facilities and aquatics
Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Sport Management or related field
CPR/First Aid/AED Professional Rescuer certification or must acquire the certification within 120 days of hire
Cortland County approved Lifeguard certification or must acquire the certification within 120 days of hire
Lifeguard Instructor certification or must acquire the certification within 120 days of hire
CPR/First Aid/AED Professional Rescuer instructor certification or must acquire the certification within 120 days of hire.
