Position Summary:
The Sport Clubs Coordinator provides leadership, vision, and supervision for the daily operations and management of a comprehensive Sport Clubs Program comprised of 30 nationally competitive sport teams averaging a total of 150 team officers, 1,200 team members, and 60 coaches each academic year.
The Coordinator is responsible for personnel management, training, and scheduling for an average of 20 student staff with varying levels of responsibility who work a combined 160 hours per week. This position involves daily management and delivery of Sport Club activities at multiple on and off-campus venues. The Coordinator is responsible for direct, daily oversight of club travel, club purchasing, and club financial administration. The Coordinator assists the Assistant Director, Sport Clubs in the daily administration, supervision, and management of the overall Sport Club program, focusing on comprehensive training, development, and leadership opportunities for student staff. This daily administration involves close coordination with the Assistant Director and includes but is not limited to communications to clubs, deadline enforcement, policy enforcement, request approvals, activity approvals and general advising for clubs, officers, coaches, athletes, and staff.
The Coordinator works collaboratively with department colleagues to facilitate event operations and logistics within the Campus Recreation Department, Division of Student Affairs, and throughout the University to benefit students. The Coordinator is committed to promoting Campus Recreation values of inclusion, community, integrity, and development by creating a welcoming environment in department facilities and via programming to a diverse University population.

Essential Duties:
Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, evaluate, and approve payroll for student employees by implementing employment processes that support effective staffing, skill development, and operational coverage for sport club activities.
Develop and deliver training and educational content for Sport Club Managers and Office Managers by providing instruction on facility policies, program policies and procedures, safety procedures, and customer service expectations.
Coordinate travel and procurement logistics for clubs, ensuring effective budget development and management: $1.2M
Oversee program and event operations by monitoring activities during some evening and weekend hours addressing operational issues, and ensuring compliance with program policies, procedures, and risk management standards.
Manage facilities and field operations by coordinating usage, conducting inspections, and making determinations regarding playability, safety conditions, and scheduling across assigned indoor and outdoor venues.
Responsible for planning and execution of large-scale welcome week events for participants and student staff in collaboration with the Assistant Director, Member Services.
Create curriculum for and supervise all summer term Athletics student athlete interns.
Maintain current certifications in American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer, Automatic External Defibrillator, and First Aid (American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is an approved substitute).

9 Sport Club Office Managers and 11 Sport Club Managers working a combined 160 hours per week
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, physical education, kinesiology, recreation administration, sport management, leisure studies, student affairs, or comparable degree
Two years of work experience in a sport clubs or competitive sports program
Experience supervising, managing, and mentoring student staff
Experience developing and leading educational trainings
Demonstrated knowledge of sport club program operations
Experience with programming or service delivery for diverse community populations
Preferred Qualifications:
Two-year 20-hr/week graduate assistantship in sport clubs or competitive sports
Master’s degree in exercise science, physical education, kinesiology, recreation administration, sport management, leisure studies, student affairs, or comparable degree
Direct personnel management experience of student staff: recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and disciplining
Budget development and budget management experience
Experience with a sport club program in higher education
Experience with sport clubs event scheduling, purchasing, travel coordination software (e.g. IMLeagues, FusionClub, Wrike, or comparable)
