Esports Graduate Assistant Job Summary: The Esports Graduate Assistant is a leadership position that works collaboratively within a growing esports program housed under Campus Recreation and supported through the MTSU C.H.A.R.G.E. (Center for the Holistic Advancement of Resilient Gaming & Esports) initiative. The Graduate Assistant provides administrative and operational support to Campus Recreation professional staff and is considered part of the Campus Recreation programming team. This position is a 2-year commitment as a full-time graduate student. Night and weekend hours may apply as well as other job specific duties as assigned.

Esports Club Responsibilities

· Assist in managing inventory, budgeting, travel information, and reimbursements for the Esports Club.

· Organize and monitor club practices, competitions, and facility usage schedules.

· Provide guidance and support to club leadership in recruitment, retention, and day-to-day operations.

· Assist in organizing and executing Esports Club leadership development and officer trainings.

· Ensure compliance with university policies and applicable collegiate esports leagues.

Esports Facility & Operations Responsibilities

· Assist in oversight of the esports facility located in the Student Union

· Monitor equipment, technology, and facility usage to ensure proper functionality and maintenance

· Coordinate with campus partners (e.g., IT, Student Affairs) to address operational needs

· Enforce facility policies and promote a safe, inclusive environment

Additional Responsibilities

· Assist in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating esports events, tournaments, and leagues

· Develop ideas and collaborate with Campus Recreation marketing staff to deliver a comprehensive marketing plan for esports programming

· Assist with esports program budget planning, policy development, and equipment/facility inventory and purchasing

· Support recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, and evaluation of esports student staff (if applicable)

· Assist with program assessment including tracking participation, facility usage, and event outcomes

· Attend regularly scheduled Campus Recreation staff meetings

· Be an engaged member of the Division of Student Affairs

What We Require

· Graduate Assistants are required to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.

· Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree and be accepted into MTSU graduate school in an academic program of their choice before the assistantship begins.

    - Acceptance into MTSU graduate school is not required to apply for this position.

    - Graduate Assistant offer will be contingent on acceptance to an MTSU graduate program.

· Must be willing to work nights and weekends as required.

· Strong interpersonal leadership and communication skills.

What We Prefer

· Experience with esports programs, gaming communities, or competitive play.

· Experience in Campus Recreation, student organizations, or event management.

· Knowledge of collegiate esports structures and leagues.

· Experience with technology, gaming equipment, or troubleshooting.

· Familiarity with Discord or similar communication platforms.

· Interest in student development, leadership, and program development.
