We are seeking GAs for the following areas: Fitness, Competitive Sports (2), and Membership and Guest Services. These assistantships are a 2-year commitment as full-time graduate students working within Campus Recreation.
Towson University Campus Recreation
Campus Recreation, a department within the Division of Student Affairs, is dedicated to Towson University’s mission of creating a vibrant and healthy campus. Our dedicated team comprised of 18 professional staff members and 8 GAs support the success of TU students by providing state-of-the-art facilities and dynamic programs that promote physical and social benefits, as well as experiential education.

Graduate Assistant, Fitness
The Graduate Assistant, Fitness serves as a member of the fitness leadership team with responsibilities spanning both administrative management and hands-on program delivery within personal training and group fitness. The GA will support the administration and daily operations of the fitness floor workforce, including staff supervision, risk management, programming support, and operational coordination. Administrative duties include supervising fitness floor attendants; managing communication platforms (e.g., SubItUp, Connect2, GroupMe); tracking equipment and supply inventory; troubleshooting equipment issues; conducting program assessments; and assisting with staff recruitment, onboarding, and training. In addition to these administrative responsibilities, the GA will actively participate in personal training and/or group fitness instruction based on experience, certifications, and program needs, gaining practical experience while contributing directly to service delivery.
Graduate Assistant, Membership & Guest Services
The Graduate Assistant, Membership & Guest Services will assist with operational support and supervision of Membership, Guest, and Welcome Desk (Access) Services. Primary responsibilities will consist of assisting with student employee supervision and training, risk management, business practices, Fusion recreation software management, and access procedures. The Graduate Assistant will work with members and guests to resolve customer service and conflict resolution issues. As a member of the Campus Recreation department, the Graduate Assistant, Membership & Guest Services will hold additional responsibilities that serve the greater needs of the department. This position reports to the Assistant Director, Membership & Guest Services. Evening and weekend hours are required as needed.
The Graduate Assistant, Competitive Sports will provide administrative and operational support to the Competitive Sports professional staff. Over the course of the two-year assistantship, the GA will benefit from two unique and immersive experiences, spending one full academic year with sport clubs and another with intramural sports. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, planning and facilitating training sessions, student staff supervision, risk management, program development, advising club officers, scheduling, providing onsite supervision of night and weekend programming and serving as a member of the Campus Recreation professional staff including attending weekly departmental staff meetings. Responsibilities may vary based on the evolving needs of the department and the skills of the applicant. Evening and weekend hours are required. This position reports to the Assistant Director, Competitive Sports, and the Coordinator, Intramural Sports.
Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and successful admittance to a Towson University graduate program. Academic programs with a significant clinical/teaching requirement that would significantly limit assistantship availability may not be considered.
Experience
Previous experience working in Campus Recreation, specifically in a leadership role for the respective program area of application is preferred but not required.

Applicants must have or be willing to obtain a current American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certification.
Stipend/Tuition
Annual stipend of $12,000 and a full tuition waiver for up to 12 credit hours per semester. There is a potential to work up to an additional five hours per week, at $19.60 per hour, with supervisor approval.
