We are excited to announce our search for an Assistant Director of Operations and Aquatics. Tennessee Tech University, located in Cookeville, TN, is home to the Burnett Student Recreation and Fitness Center - a hub for fitness, health and wellness. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated campus recreation professional to join our team and help deliver an exceptional experience for our students and members.
The overall purpose of this job is the responsibility of regular, daily maintenance, oversight and management of pool chemicals and to provide consistent and effective supervision to lifeguards and student employees, including hiring, training, and scheduling. Also, performs regular (daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly) assessments on fitness equipment to ensure industry safety standards. Recommend replacement of fitness machines and equipment when necessary. The incumbent will provide recommendations regarding the promotion, transfer, demotion or termination of student staff. Assist other full-time Campus Recreation staff in the daily operation of the Burnett Recreation Center and programs offered to students and members. Provide positive customer service through direct interaction, and occasional tours of the facility, and involvement with the students, Alumni, and guests of the facility and Tennessee Tech University. Daily oversight of the cleanliness of building, communicating with the custodial staff when issues need to be addressed. Be a consistent presence in the building throughout the day to ensure participants use the building in compliance with Campus Recreation’s policies and procedures and immediately address non-compliance. Demonstrate leadership and excellent customer service at all times as this is a high traffic facility used for recruitment of future students, many leadership retreats, board meetings, senior salute, etc.

REQUIRED: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field with four years of related professional experience including two (2) years of supervisory experience managing a recreation facility.
PREFERRED: Certified Pool Operator (or willingness to obtain certification), Certified Lifeguard (or willingness to obtain certification), Certified Lifeguard Instructor (or willingness to obtain certification), Certified CPR AED (or willingness to obtain certification), CPR AED Instructor Certified (or willingness to obtain certification).
