JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Program Manager 2 – Fitness will coordinate personal and small group training, Fit4Hire programs, personal training and group fitness instructor certification courses, and other fitness programs and events. Provide assistance with program planning and development, as well as managing fitness facility spaces. Evenings and weekends are required. This position reports to the Program Director – Fitness.
Job Duties: Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Assists with planning, executing, and evaluating a comprehensive fitness program, including group fitness, personal and small group training, fitness challenges, specialty classes, and customized programs for various stakeholders. May conduct personal training and teach group fitness classes or workshops.
Recruit, supervise, and evaluate student employees; provide ongoing professional development and training for staff members.
Assist with the day-to-day activities and operations of the Fitness Zone floor and other fitness spaces, consults with, and responds to participant questions and concerns; monitors inventory and maintains functional fitness equipment and makes recommendation for replacements.
Assist with the development and management of program budgets, generate revenue, and ensure fiscal responsibility. Assist with management of contracts related to the fitness program.
Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement marketing and promotional plans for fitness programs and activities.
Ensure program compliance with university policies, procedures, and local and state regulations.
Foster a supportive environment for participants and student staff, address patron comments, concerns, and behavior, as necessary.
Assist with the development and execution of long-term fitness plans, focusing on assessment of student development, learning outcomes, and evaluations of programs, services, and staff.
Maintain accurate records and generate various reports, including semester reports and assessments.
Serve on internal and external committees, work groups, and collaborate with campus partners; build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and participate in university programs and events.
Assist with risk management for the program area, implementing policies and procedures and maintaining detailed records to ensure safety and compliance.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Availability for evening and weekend hours as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's degree in recreation, sport management, hospitality management, business, or related field. Master's degree preferred and one year of direct experience. Excellent written and verbal communications skills and attention to detail. Demonstrated proficiency in creating a positive customer experience and the ability to lead and manage student staff. Experience utilizing Fusion software is preferred.
Must have valid Personal Training certification and Group Fitness Instructor certification through AFAA, ACE, ACSM, NSCA, NASM, or a nationally accredited organization; American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) and First Aid certifications also required; and must obtain CPR/First Aid/AED Instructor certification within first year of employment.
